Tim Patton, TAPS COO, announced that Ty Booth has been hired as Director of IT Services for the public transportation agency, effective July 7.
Booth comes from Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant where he was Systems Administrator and HIPAA Security Officer for the past two years. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Previously, IT Services was managed along with Safety and Security. COO Patton said the separation of technical services is recognition of the important role technology plays as the agency expands. “Many people think of TAPS as all about buses and it’s true that’s where the rubber meets the road, but just about everything else runs through a wire or over the air,” said Patton. The Call Center alone takes thousands of calls each week to help riders schedule rides on the system.
Director of IT Booth brings a special knowledge that is critical to operations related to TAPS’s contract from the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission to provide Non-Emergency Medical Transportation for Medicaid recipients. Protection of privileged patient information is subject to strict rules under the Health Information Patient Privacy Act (HIPPA).
Also joining the IT department in July is John C. Frost, a Telephony Specialist. Frost was most recently a Site Support Technician at Choctaw Resort and Casino in Durant. He also spent six years as a Systems Engineer in a large call center environment.
