On Thursday (11/12) morning, we were officially informed that TAPS would lose the contract with the State of Texas to coordinate and perform trips for its Medicaid program. When we got this contract just over a year ago, it was a huge win for Grayson County. We were able to hire over 100 people for the project’s start up.
58 good people lost their jobs yesterday. Each one was dedicated to serving Medicaid clients with the best service possible. We lost the contract not because these folks did a poor job, but because we as an agency were unable to be our financial house in order.
Workforce Texoma was in our building 45 minutes after the news to counsel those who were permanently laid off. If you are looking to hire a professional, customer-driven, caring employee, think about a former TAPS Access employee.
