TAPS Public Transit has extended its agreement to operate its main terminal and transfer point at Sherman’s Midway Mall. TAPS opened the facility at the retail center on April 15, 2013. Since opening, thousands of passengers have passed through the facility.
The hours of operation for the TAPS passenger terminal at Midway Mall have changed. The inside waiting lobby is open to passengers Monday-Friday 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tim Patton, TAPS Chief Operating Officer, said the Midway Mall facility has been a success —both for its high profile location, and ample parking for park and ride passengers. “We are happy to renew our arrangement with Midway Mall to keep the TAPS Park & Ride facility open. It has been a good partnership.”
The 2,600 sq. ft. space at Midway Mall provides shelter for passengers waiting for a bus and offers information about routes and schedules throughout the TAPS seven county service area.
Midway Mall representative, Royale Property Management’s director of leasing and purchasing, David Pinter, said his company is pleased about keeping the TAPS Public Transit terminal at the mall. “Having TAPS at Midway Mall has been mutually beneficial and we are happy to continue our partnership,” said Pinter.
Midway Mall is now the main connection point for all Sherman-Denison area fixed route service including the Viking Route, Roo Route, and Red River Route, as well as the express bus to McKinney and DART’s light rail system at Parker Road in Plano.
