TAPS Public Transit bosses worked the grill and served lunch to about fifty employees at the agency’s Collin County headquarters in McKinney on Friday. The employee appreciation event was a small thank you for what has been a difficult few days.
Brad Underwood, CEO and executive director, said the last minute party felt like the right thing to do after nearly a week of equipment breakdowns due to record heat —putting stress on the public transportation agency’s fleet, not to mention the men and women in the driver’s seats.
“You have to consider what a rough time it’s been with air conditioning going out, tires showing extra wear, and just overall uncomfortable conditions,” said Underwood. “We thought it made sense to let our people know that their hard work and patience is appreciated.”
